Rachel & Matt’s Intimate Autumn Wedding at The Castle Inn, Spofforth, North Yorkshire.
Saturday 4th October brought a welcome break in the weather after Storm Amy had swept through Harrogate the 24 hours before with high winds and rain. But by morning, the skies had calmed, and Spofforth was bathed in soft autumn light—just in time for Rachel and Matt’s beautiful wedding at The Castle Inn.
The day began with Rachel getting ready at the venue with her mother and sister, followed by a beautiful intimate ceremony in the barn, attended by just 15 of Rachel and Matt’s closest family members. The rustic setting, with its warm timber beams and cozy charm, was the perfect backdrop for a heartfelt exchange of vows. There was something truly special about the quiet, personal atmosphere - every glance, every smile, every tear felt magnified in its meaning.
As the afternoon unfolded, the rest of their family and friends arrived to join the celebrations. The Orangery came alive with laughter, clinking glasses, and the soulful sounds of a country singer who played as guests mingled. The relaxed, joyful energy was infectious - everyone seemed to be soaking in the love and warmth that surrounded Rachel and Matt.
One of the sweetest moments of the day came when the couple’s adorable dog, Bailey, joined them for photos at the nearby Spofforth castle ruins. Bailey bounded happily towards his humans, he was very happy to see his newly married human mom and dad, and what a very photogenic pup he was!!
Guests were treated to a fantastic wedding breakfast feast, full of seasonal flavors and warm hospitality. The groom, Matt gave a short but heartfelt speech, thanking everyone for being part of their special day - a moment that brought smiles and laughter as Matt had enjoyed quite a few "old fashioned's" at this point!
As evening settled in, the dancefloor opened and Rachel and Matt shared their first dance, surrounded by the glow of fairy lights and the gentle hum of celebration. They also chose to cut their cake in a quiet, private moment - just the two of them, savoring the "sweetness" of the day.
This wedding was a beautiful reminder that love doesn’t need grandeur to be unforgettable. Rachel and Matt’s day was filled with intimacy, authenticity, and joy—and I feel so lucky to have captured it all. Thank you so much for having me! xx
